Baby Jacob is finally here!

On Friday, February 12, our little boy Jacob Scott was born. He was 8 lbs 10 oz, and 20 inches long!

Here is the labor day story:

On Thursday, I started having really bad back pains. Little did I realize that I was in labor! I thought I would feel abdominal cramps, so that is what I was looking for. It wasn't until my back pains were coming and going, getting closer and closer, that I realized I was in labor. I was scared, but also excited, because I knew we would get to see our baby soon. Kevin was an amazing coach. He helped me breathe through each contraction and also kept me laughing to distract me. When the contractions started coming 5 minutes apart, we decided to go to the hospital. It was a cold day in the morning, and people were already downstairs waiting for taxis. I was a little embarrassed, because here I was having contractions in front of all these people. But they were very nice and let us have the very next taxi.

We got to the hospital and I was only dilated to a three, but they let me stay since my contractions were so close together. Then shortly after they gave me an epidural, which was such a welcome relief because now my contractions were right on top of each other! Turns out I had already dilated to a 7! After that, the baby's heart rate dropped a little, and all of a sudden there were like 10 people in the room, and they were giving me oxygen and the doctor broke my water. It was a little scary because I didn't know what was going on, but shortly after everything was ok. Then it came time to push, and the baby's heart rate was dipping again, so they had to get him out fast with the vacuum extractor. Thanks goodness I had the epidural because they told me I majorly tore (sorry if this is too graphic). But it was all over, or so I thought......After I held Jacob for a little bit, they found out that I had a hematoma, so I had to have a little surgery to fix it. This was really scary for me! I don't like hospitals. So after the surgery I was in recovery for a little while. So it wasn't until about 5 hours after I delivered that I got to be with my baby:( But now everything is fine, and we have our sweet little baby boy!

We took him home in this outfit (his pants are a little big).

Here he is on his first visit to the pediatrician

My mom flew in to be with her grandson and help me out:)

We just love our little guy so much!!!!!
